Maybe it was on brand for high school students so maybe it’s just me thinking that. Another thing is it did drag a little longer than necessary at certain points purely because judgements of certain characters were sometimes questionable but it wasn’t completely ruining it for me, so at least that was nice. It’s what brought it up from a 3 star to a 4 star. First of all, right off the bat, I found Scottie to be really frustratingly arrogant and unaware of the emotions of the people around her, BUT I do really approvals the character development I will admit. At that point it’s out of my control! However, I do have some gripes about the story and characters. I really enjoyed the premise of this book, after all I’m a simple gay, when I hear a sapphic book about a cheerleader and an athlete with an enemies to lovers trope, I HAVE to read it. Earlier philosophers wrote in a variety of forms that we might consider odd today – maxims, paradoxes, even poetry. Other disciples of the philosopher Socrates wrote “Socratic dialogues,” too.
